Why is it important?
Up to 2% of the population are affected by wounds. They have a significant impact on the individual in economic, social, psychological and physical domains. In addition, they have an impact on health systems in terms of resources and costs. It was therefore important to estimate the economic impact of wounds on the health system in Ireland.
