What is it about?
After 7 years of pay freezes and tireless protests, a new deals was finally agreed with unions, proposing to increase the pay of health professionals in the NHS by as much as 29%. This is undoubtedly welcome news for midwives, but also for Band 1 employees, who keep the NHS running by proving cleaning, catering and transportation services and will be the beneficiaries of the biggest raises.

Why is it important?
It is important to recognise the deal that has been long awaited for so long, as well as the efforts of negotiators. It is also important to celebrate the increases that now mean that all NHS workers will be paid the living wage, something long overdue.
