Why is it important?
When news from the US develops so fast and unexpectedly that TV political dramas struggle to compete, it might be premature to comment on its health policy, but President Trump's plans have implications that reach beyond the US. The US already has the highest maternal mortality rate of any developed country, and yet these plans threaten to make birth less safe for women, thus undermining midwives' work.
