What is it about?

As paramedics are an essential component in the healthcare system for public health emergency response, this research sought a better understanding of the lived experiences of paramedics throughout the initial stages of the COVID-19 outbreak. Paramedics from across Canada were invited to participate in an online survey asking about the changes they have experienced as a paramedic since the onset/outbreak of Covid-19 in Canada. Findings resulted in three main themes describing the experiences of paramedics: (1) challenges with change management, (2) changes in day-to-day operations, and (3) implications on mental health.
