What is it about?
We asked healthcare staff about their experiences of caring for people with both heart failure and lymphoedema. Many described uncertainty about when and how to use compression therapy, gaps between different services, and the need for clearer guidance, joint training, and stronger collaboration to support safe and consistent care.

Why is it important?
This study explores healthcare professionals’ experiences of caring for people with both heart failure and lymphoedema. Staff reported uncertainty about compression therapy, gaps between services, and limited awareness of guidance. These findings show the urgent need for clearer clinical pathways, joint training, and stronger collaboration to ensure safe, consistent care for this complex patient group.
Perspectives
Writing this article was particularly meaningful as it brought together perspectives from both lymphoedema and heart failure care. For me, it highlighted the value of listening to professionals’ real-world experiences, which are often missing from guidelines. I hope this work encourages stronger collaboration and sparks conversations about how we can support staff with the knowledge and confidence needed to care for this complex group of patients.
