What is it about?
We develop new models of joint planning storage and transmission capacities for tapping remote wind energy recourses. The resulting second-order cone mixed integer model captures the intermittence of wind energy output and is efficient to solve. We also provide bounds of the accuracy of our model. Our finding suggest that even small storage capacity can save big investment costs.
