What is it about?
It presents a tool of analysis I have developed which 1. tries to be as neutral as possible and still deal with values 2. models reader expectations (tested on real readers) and their corrections by texts 3. analyzes a Hellboy comic and two stories for kids: the Gruffalo and Where the Wild Things Are.

Why is it important?
1. Because it is difficult to talk about values without being 'infected' by ideology. This too tries to minimize ideological infection. 2. Because it presents the tool as a tool rather than a theory, something to think with and about rather than just to impose on the text.
