What is it about?

This is a reflection on Cognitive Work Analysis and why it has been an important method for me.

Why is it important?

Cognitive work analysis is a method that has been very useful for understanding the complex interactions and constraints on human work. But working with the method also teaches the practitioner about human work in a more broad sense. As you learn to use CWA and explore it more fully your perspective on human work also grows and changes.

Perspectives

This book chapter is a reflective exploration of how working with Cognitive Work Analysis has developed and challenged my own understanding of human work. As a researcher using CWA, the method has challenged me to think more deeply about human work as a system, the role of intention in decision making, and the role of people as both objects and actors. Some of these ideas are precursors to my current thoughts on Persuasive Design. Thank you Neville for letting me have a space in your book to explore my ideas.
