What is it about?

This paper talks about using the GPR to detect oil on the surface of the Ground water table.

Why is it important?

Water is a very important resource for sustain life on the planet Earth. Knowing that there is a hundred times more water in the ground than is in all the world's rivers and lakes. Hence, we must keep it clean so we can exploit it safely. We developed a laboratory-scale experiment to detect LNAPL contaminants that might leak from oil refinement stations.

Perspectives

Advancing on with this research and extend it to a full-scale laboratory might have a great impact on the detection of water contaminants and the corresponding remediation techniques.
