What is it about?
Phase cross-correlation is a means of correlating seismic traces using only their amplitude information and ignoring the associated amplitudes. Based on this process, we introduce new imaging condition for reverse-time migration that can help to enhance structural information in the data by enhancing weak events over those with strong amplitudes.

Why is it important?
Sometimes, strong reflectors dominate a certain in a region of a conventional seismic image, making it impossible to recognize subtle stratigraphic or structural features. With an additional image that enhances phase information and reduces the importance of amplitudes, other features can become visible and/or interpretable that might be missed in a conventional or true-amplitude seismic image.
