What is it about?

It is about weak AE signals detection. Under complex rock mechanics test conditions,it is difficult to detect AE signals which are mixed with the strong background noise. We have used the mathematical morphology character of time-frequency spectra to overcome this problem.

Why is it important?

The proposed approach can detect AE signals with a lower SNR and greatly improve the efficiency of acoustic emission signal localization. the significant findings is that the proposed approach can detect AE signals with a lower SNR compared with conventional methods (Wavelet analysis, shot time Fourier transform)

Perspectives

I hope this manuscript is helpful to the data processing of acoustic emission monitoring of rock mechanics.
