What is it about?

We observe a novel continuous variation of electrical resistivity driven by large ranges of TOC content in immature lacustrine oil-prone shales. The modified minerals and pore space driven by various OMs affect the electrical resistivity of immature shales.

Why is it important?

Our results improve the understanding of OM-driven conduction in shales and contribute to the evaluation of source rocks using well log method.

Perspectives

I hope this paper will attract the attention of those who study the mechanism of resistivity logging response in shale, based on the clue from the interaction of organic matter and minerals.
