What is it about?

Further synergistic enhancement of the phototherapeutic efficiency was achieved by simultaneous irradiation with visible light and NIR onto the cells incubated with inorganic nanocomplex such as Au NR–TiO2 nanoclusters .

Why is it important?

New nanocale therapeutic agent Au NR–TiO2 NCs was developed, and its therapeutic mechanism was found to be based on visible light-induced production of reactive oxygen species as well as the aid of localized surface plasma resonance (LSPR) -induced hot electrons and heat generation.

Perspectives

The combination of photodynamic therapy and photothermal treatments with Au NR–TiO2 nanoclusters has a great potential to be applied to remove the targeted cancer cells.
