What is it about?
Older People’s Shoes’ is a training intervention designed for healthcare assistants (HCAs) to improve the relational care of older people in hospital. The intervention formed part of a broader evaluation, in this paper we describe its development from a learning design and methodological perspective.

Why is it important?
This training intervention provides high quality learning content, alignment with learner needs and is relevant, straightforward and practical to implement.
Perspectives
Relational care is often neglected in health care provision for older people which can be overwhelmingly practically focussed. This intervention helps to counter this trend by providing high quality training on this issue for healthcare assistants who provide the majority of front line care for older people.
