What is it about?
Human sweat contains DNA which can be sequenced, this DNA is associated with sweat particles and sweat extracellular vesicles. We found that mitochondrial DNA is highly represented and that some region of each human chromosomes are also very abundant while most are absent. We could also identify bacterial DNA and viral DNA, most of it belonging to skin associated microorganisms. We also identified small RNA: miRNA, tRNA, rRNA and other noncoding RNA associated with extracellular vesicles. Fragment of processed mRNA were also identified, showing that human exercise sweat is a potential source of nucleic acid biomarkers.

Why is it important?
This report the NGS data obtained from RNA and DNA extracted from the upper body sweat of several individuals. We show and characterize nucleic acids from sweat extracellular vesicles collected during exercise.
