What is it about?

Fibromyalgia patients have a chronic wide spread pain, and they have a higher risk of coronary heart disease than the general population. About 50% of fibromyalgia patients receive acupuncture in Taiwan. We used the National Health Insurance Research Database in Taiwan that is . Our study shows that fibromyalgia patients who did not receive acupuncture had a twofold risk of coronary heart disease than patients who received acupuncture.

Why is it important?

Our finding shows that acupuncture can reduce a 50% of happenings of coronary heart disease in fibromyalgia patients. Thus, fibromyalgia patients may have a better outcome after they receive acupuncture.
