What is it about?
In asthma, airways respond to various triggers by narrowing, producing wheezing and breathing difficulty. We show that in obese people with asthma, the narrowing can be due in part to mechanical effects from increased body fat. Reducing fat tissue in obese people with asthma could be expected to lessen airway narrowing and improve asthma symptoms.
