Air pollution and subclinical interstitial lung disease: the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) air–lung study

What is it about?

For the first time, we show that exposure to air pollution is associated with subclinical markers of interstitial lung diseases, before symptoms have manifested. Although more studies are needed, this finding supports the hypothesis that air pollution could be a risk factor for interstitial lung diseases.
