What is it about?
Chronic thromboembolic disease without pulmonary hypertension at rest leads to physical impairment under exercise. This paper demonstrates the changes in exercise right heart catheterization before and after pulmonary endarterctomy and correlates these data with functional statuts and exercise testing.

Why is it important?
First article that describes the beneficial effect of pulmonary endarterectomy on pulmonary exercise haemodynamics and supports the concept of exercise pulmonary hypertension. That means at rest the mean pulmonary artery pressure is below 25 mmHg but under exercise the total pulmonary resistance (TPR) or the mean pulmonary pressure/cardiac Output relartionship surpass the value of 3 WU.
