What is it about?
Planners work in complex environments where they have to respond not only to political bosses but to organizational leaders. In this paper we discuss how a large sample of Canadian planners identify and respond to different kinds of leadership styles. It turns out that the kinds of leaders that planners appreciate -- visionary, empathetic, empowering --are less common, and less likely to be retained by their political bosses, than planners might hope.
