What is it about?

Triage plays an important role in ensuring that patients are prioritized according to the urgency of the need for treatment, that flow across the ED is unham-pered with patients being discharged to appropriate areas within short waiting times, and that resources are allocatedjudiciously based on patients’ needs.

Why is it important?

Further education and training in emergency nursing are needed to improve their triage knowledge and practice. Therefore,the study recommends the development of further training and education in emergency nursing to address knowledge deficiencies and incorrect triage practices.

Perspectives

I believe this article helps healthcare providers understand the gaps in improper triaging by assessing the knowledge and practices and their associated factors among emergency department nurses.
