What is it about?

Crowdfunding platforms can be used to pay for funeral expenses and memorials. Through content analysis of 50 crowdfunded funeral campaigns and qualitative interviews, this study finds that people must employ emotionally appealing images and narratives to entice donors. Structural inequalities persist in the sharing economy and many campaigns ultimately fail.
