What is it about?

we describe the diagnostic process in a patient where vulvodynia was associated with pudendal neuralgia. At first assessment, vulvodynia was confirmed and we prescribed a therapeutic regimen consisting of medications and behavioral interventions. After some improvement new symptoms became evident suggesting the involvement of the peripheral neural system. Pudendal Neuralgia was diagnosed according to the Nantes criteria, therefore physical treatment and relaxation exercises to de-contract the spine were added to the vulvodynia regimen.

Why is it important?

conditions that share a common etiology can associate with one being more clinically evident than the other. although overlapping symptoms make it difficult, differentiating each conditions is crucial to grant a patient the appropriate treatment.

Perspectives

shared experience among clinicians allows for better understanding and a broader perspective; we hope our effort in reporting about this case will be appreciated.
