What is it about?
This article examines two of the biggest claims for social media use in the classroom: a widened audience and increased literacy and learning. I discuss these in terms of how context will factor in. I then discuss some of the suggestions for incorporating social media into the classroom and some limitations of social media in the classroom.

Why is it important?
Though not exhaustive, this review looks at some of the main claims for social media in the classroom right now. Because social media are a hot topic in education and because they are constantly changing, researchers need to continually revise and revise their affordances.
