What is it about?
Odontogenic sinusitis, i.e. sinus infection due to dental disease or more complex dentistry procedures, accounts for a significant proportion of patients reporting with nasal symptoms. Nevertheless, no shared diagnostic criteria have been developed or implemented in the literature.

Why is it important?
In order to develop better treatment for a condition and to expand clinical knowledge on any subject, clinicians and researchers need to share terminology and diagnostic approaches. For odontogenic sinusitis this hasn't been the case in years and development of a multidisciplinary consensus would be key in appraoching this extremely common disease.
