What is it about?
The Disabilities of the Arm,Shoulder and Hand questionnaire was translated to Igbo language from English.The reliability and validity of the translated igbo version was determined also its cross-cultural adaptation.Igbo language is one of the three major languages in Nigeria.The Igbo people are about 40million out of almost 200 million people in Nigeria;this was done in other to capture the non English speaking igbo people for clinical assessment of Arm,Shoulder and Hand disabilities.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that the test–retest reliability was excellent. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was high for the entire items on the scale. There was a significant strong correlation between the scores obtained on the English and Igbo versions of the DASH indicating excellent construct validity. Thirty linear components were identified within the data set.
Perspectives
Engaging in this research was an exciting experience for us as authors.Issues of cross cultural adaption of languages and the scientific experimentation with psychometric measures which was a combination of Arts and science was very interesting.This shows that science is interconnected to all disciplines of human research.
