What is it about?
This is a statistical review of studies that examined whether clonidine is helpful for diarrhea. It turns out it it actually is by increasing the time stool remain in the bowel, decreasing stool volume, decreasing stool frequencyl and promoting absorption of certain salts in stool that make stool volume usually larger. Hence ,this study comprises evidence from twenty studies and shows the effects of clonidine against diarrhea. Despite the large number of studies analysed, one of its limitations is that patients' group were quite different and included cases of functional diarrhea with other cases, suggesting a cautious interpretation of results.
