What is it about?
The Biafra campaign group seeks a referendum to leave Nigeria. The online/offline campaign receives local and international supports from the Igbos and others who agree that the Igbos of South East Nigeria deserve independence. The group's efforts are resisted and jeopardized by igbo politicians in the Nigerian government. Moreover some factions of the Igbo campaign group (IPOB) have emerged with different goals and approaches to the Biafra dream.

Why is it important?
The Igbos deserve self rule. Unless this is achieved, there may never be a lasting peace in Nigeria. But the way to Igbo independent nation is continously endangered by the Igbos themselves.
Perspectives
Unfortunately, Nigeria remains a false unity, only beneficial to the few in power. Until there is true federalism or smaller independent states with full access to Nigerias wealth to develop at their own pace, there will never be development. Nigeria is too large to be governed from the centre. Individuals from the North and other parts of the country that own oil wells in the south-east and south-south will continue to insist on 'one Nigeria' while the generality of the people are suffering.
