What is it about?
Although weight bias is common among fitness professionals, there are very few resources to help educate them on this issue, and no systematic review of weight bias interventions has been done for this group. This paper reviews existing interventions to guide future efforts to reduce weight bias. It identified seven reports from six studies published up to April 2024. Results showed small to large improvements in explicit weight bias (mainly related to blaming individuals for their weight), but no changes in implicit bias. The findings highlight the urgent need for more comprehensive interventions to address weight bias in the fitness industry.
