Why is it important?

New technologies, particularly highly data analytic technologies have the potential to change the field of human factors. Practitioners and researchers in human factors need to think more deeply about the opportunities and changes that could be coming.

Perspectives

New data analytic technologies have the potential to change how we understand human interaction. Why design from personas and user profiles, when we can collect individual personalized data? Human interactions could be understood and improved real time, in the rich contexts where they occur. I see data technologies as disruptive to human factors and UX fields leading to personalized UX, contextually rich data-driven experience improvement, and more focus on human interaction with machine learning/data-driven intelligent agents.
