What is it about?
This article reflects on the limitations of traditional reflection, problem solving and 'Sensemaking' (Weick, 1995) both in the authors' research practice, and also in the context of social work. These reflections provide a backdrop to a wider discussion and provocation about 'Sensemaking' in social work.

Why is it important?
Makinh sense and achieving reflexivity in research and professional practice is important. Our current methods prioritise logical, lineart and rational methods, and this article provokes us to think beyond these restrictions.
Perspectives
This article deals honesty with the challenges of understanding, and reflecting on research and professional practice.
