What is it about?

Why is it important?

Big data is a burgeoning area of research interest, but to date, there has been little attempt to understand big data and it's potentials and implications for researchers who predominantly use qualitative research. Qualitative researchers need to know how big data will change the way we work in the future.

Perspectives

I have predominantly drawn on qualitative research methods throughout my career, including a range of newer digital and multimodal methods, and critical, visual and sensory ethnographic methodologies. I am currently expanding my repertoire of research methods and data sources, including my knowledge of big data.
