Why is it important?

Nigeria has one of the highest numbers and rates of infants mortality in the world. A few studies have investigated factors associated with infants mortality in the country. However, it is unclear how the rates and risk factors for infants mortality differ between rural and urban residences. This study bridges the knowledge gaps by assessing the rural-urban differences in the rates and factors associated with infants mortality in Nigeria. The rural-urban dichotomy approach is in line with the consensus on addressing disparities in childhood mortalities using evidence based disaggregated data/studies.
