What is it about?
In a series of three studies, we create the first psychometically valid measure of an important group construct, entitativity. Entitativity is a fundamental component of groups, but previous measures have serious psychometric problems. We study entitativity in online groups, face-to-face work and social groups, and Facebook to show that our measures of entitativity and its antecedents are both distinct from each other and other constructs "near" it as well as theoretically consistent with each other.

Why is it important?
Group researchers need valid measures of what they theorize and study. This will help us develop better theories and examinations of fundamental group processes and outcomes.
