What is it about?

Working with oppressed requires a full attention in not reproducing dynamics which are proper to the oppressors. In fact, victimizing and passivizing victims reproduce the discourse of power over the oppressed, undermining natural resources for survival and liberation. Children are competent actors in the recovery process in contexts characterized by ongoing injustice and political violence, their voices are effectively contributing to enhance community resilience. Our work shows how Palestinian children engaged in narrative activities, increase their competence in reacting to the occupation and political oppression. The children are not the problem, they have a problem to confront with. The findings show a great activity of self-protection in Palestinian childrens after war.

Perspectives

Narrative approaches are embedded in the cultural and narrative nature of human beings, their efficacy and effectiveness is rooted in the cultural sensitivity and byo-genetic features that contribute together in overcoming the separation between psycho- biological and psycho-educational interventions.
