What is it about?

Sport Education is a widely used physical education (PE) curriculum model that is fun for students. This study reviews and synthesizes the Sport Education studies regarding the motivational impacts on high school students, as well as summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of the literature, directions for future studies, and practical implications of Sport Education.

Why is it important?

Since the first Sport Education study on motivation was published in 2004, there has been a growing body of research that shows the positive influence of this curriculum model in students' motivational responses. In this review, we summarize the motivational processes based on empirical evidence, which can help reverse the current trend of declines in motivation and participation in PA among adolescents by adequately implementing Sport Education in high school PE.

Perspectives

Writing this article was not an easy task due to the breadth and depth of the reading needed. However, I have learned a lot about writing a quality systematic review, which will help consolidate my future research directions. I was very glad to be able to publish this article based on a class project with my mentor's support.
