What is it about?

The cognitive status of Multiple Sclerosis patients is often neglected when calculating their disability status. We provide a simple and efficient way to integrate the BICAMS and orientation test in the cerebral functional score of the EDSS (iEDSS).

Why is it important?

The iEDSS adds as little as 15 minutes to the entire neurological examination. We applied the iEDSS to 600 patients and found that 25% of EDSS measurements with a score up to 4.0 are underrated.

Perspectives

The iEDSS could change the way we consider disability and make a huge improvement in our clinical practice making the final integration between cognitive status and neurological examination possible.
