Why is it important?

Myopia is expected to become the most important cause of blindness and visual impairments worldwide unless we act now. The article presents a guidance how to prevent myopia onset and how to reduce myopia progression.

Perspectives

I always knew that among the causes of blindness and visual impairments myopia is one of the leaders just behind age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. However, earlier it was very difficult to answer the question what to do, how to prevent myopia blindness. But now, the research on myopia has accelerated very much and new evidence based facts became known. So, I was very happy to summarize these new preventive or treatment possibilities which are effective to prevent myopia onset or to slow down myopia progression.
