Impact on patient satisfaction with a structured counselling approach on natural health products

What is it about?

We found increased patient satisfaction with routine counselling on natural health products based on our previously developed structured approach. There was only minimal increase in workload and cost for each counselling section.

Why is it important?

Natural health products are commonly used by patients with cancer. However, many health professionals are reluctant to engage in discussing with patients because of a lack of systematic approach and concern of workload. Our study showed that using our approach, patients can be efficiently counselled on the use of natural health products.
