In this article we relate the challenges and solutions we found to introducing data journalism to our journalism curricula at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

Why is it important?
Journalism education tends to attract both teachers and students with backgrounds in the humanities. Understanding the ever-important intersection of news reporting and computer science can be difficult. In this article we relate our successes and failures and offer some advice for those contemplating data journalism education.
