What is it about?
We identified nine different clusters of persons that are characterized by peculiar change trajectories in calling. We observed that callings can change dramatically in less than 12 months and then return to its initial level. Also, we observed that perceiving a calling and living it out influence each other in a reciprocal relation and that the development of calling is not influenced by individuals' performance in their calling domain (ability). On the contrary, perceiving a calling is a cause, rather than a consequence, of ability in the calling domain.

Why is it important?
Having and living out a calling is related to many beneficial outcomes, such as job satisfaction and job performance. Explaining how a calling develops is both important to understand its nature and to plan evidence-based interventions aimed at fostering individual well-being.
