What is it about?

Sarcomas are occasionally radiotherapy-related. This is a case report of a synovial sarcoma arising from the common bile duct, in a male patient who received 16 sessions of abdominal fractioned radiotherapy ten years ago, because of a retroperitoneal metastatic seminona.

Why is it important?

Remarkably, this is the very first report of a histologically, ultrastructurally, and cytogenetically demonstrated radiotherapy-induced synovial sarcoma arising from the extrahepatic bile ducts, and the second case reported in this anatomical region.
