What is it about?

One of the key factors affecting male nurses’ intention to remain in or leave nursing is their socialization . Socialization is one the most important aspects of nurses’ professionalization.Professional socialization is a complex process during which a person acquires professional knowledge, develops professional identity and skills, and internalizes group norms and values.

Why is it important?

Many reasons have been put forward as to why men continue to be underrepresented in the nursing, the focus of much of the research to date has been around issues relating to the lack of encouragement for boys and men to enter the profession, barriers to entry into the profession, and the difficulties in professional socialization for men within the nursing.

Perspectives

This is an important article. Since nursing requires both gender professionals(women and men), this article addresses and discusses one of the greatest challenges for nursing men employees.
