This study showed that children from low-income households whose home visitors had online support to guide their decision making had significantly stronger language growth than those whose home visitors did not have this support.

Why is it important?
Data-driven decision making has been touted by education researchers and policy makers as an effective approach to individualizing education services for children from diverse backgrounds. Unfortunately, few educators have the training or tools to know what data to use, how to use it, and how to make meaningful decisions based on child performance. This is one of the few empirical studies in early childhood education demonstrating that data-driven decision making can have important effects on child outcomes when educators have appropriate tools and support.
