What is it about?
The gasoline/diesel blended fuel, which is also known as wide distillation fuel, has been proved to be more suitable for achieving premixed combustion in internal combustion engine due to its relatively lower reactivity and higher volatility. However, the fuel-burning particle emission with such blended fuel presents some new features compared to that of conventional diesel. This paper characterizes the particle size distribution of the gasoline/diesel blends, to provide reference data for the future control strategy of low particle engines.

Why is it important?
We characterizes the particle size distributions of a CI engine fueled the gasoline/diesel blended fuel. The findings are important for the optimization of the engine operating parameters that are proved beneficial for eliminating the in-cylinder particle formation. And the results of the present study are also meaningful for guiding configuration of the future after-treatment system to meet the requirement of emission regulation in particle numbers.
