Why is it important?

Social isolation and its negative implications for the health of older people are not a much-discussed topic in the Indian setting. Findings of this study could be used to create awareness among the population as a preventive measure to reduce the burden of this public health problem which is likely to increase in the years to come. This study can also help policy makers and public health professionals in planning effective intervention programs to reduce social isolation.

Perspectives

This study is a challenging one as it used secondary data and in the original survey social isolation was not measured. Hence after many discussions we identified few variables that tells about social isolation.
