Why is it important?

Understanding the impact of these factors on refugees is important, as the number of refugees are increasing globally. Participating in health services is essential for social inclusion of refugees and has been found to increase settlement outcomes more generally.

Perspectives

The publication adds to our understanding of how refugees' past experiences in home countries and experiences in host countries bot impact on how they engage in health services. Thus policy makers are not just dealing with current expectations and practices, but need to address negative home country experiences.
