Why is it important?

This study showed that students with Reading and Math disorders are more alike in the type of errors they make than different. While a student may have a specific disability, either in math or reading, it is important to assess and provide intervention to all areas of weakness.

Perspectives

I was surprised by these results as I expected students with a disability in one area to be significantly different from those student with a disability in a different area. This study shows that while students may have a specific learning disability in reading, there may be some crossover with math due to processing difficulties and vise versa.
