What is it about?

This study assessed cyclic displacement after a meniscus root repair.

Why is it important?

This study found that cyclic displacement which occurs after meniscus root repairs primarily occurs at the suture-tissue interface. It does not occur at the surgical knot tied over a button or the suture within the tibial tunnel.

Perspectives

There has been some concern about the length of suture and whether there is a "bungie" affect with a meniscus root repair. The study found there was no bungie affect and that any loosening of the suture occurs within the meniscal tissue itself.
