What is it about?
Building on the findings that perceiving one's partner as unresponsive to one's needs interferes with attachment processes, with negative effects on relational well-being, in the present research we examine (a) the associations between attachment insecurity and the frequency of dyadic and extra-dyadic fantasies, and (b) the potential role of perceived partner responsiveness in mediating these associations.

Why is it important?
This study refers to attachment insecurities in terms of within-individual variations, opposed to the common individual differences approach. It demonstrates the importance of perceived partner responsiveness in explaining the process in which daily fluctuations in attachment insecurities dampen sexual desire in long-term romantic relationships.
